I write for a living. Writing gurus will tell you to “write what you know”. I set out some time ago to hunt my experiences across Korea, China, Japan, Iraq, Qatar, England, South Africa and half of Europe.
My experiences since include newspapering, aviation, tech school and grad school, SCUBA diving and skydiving, fast bikes and slow trucks, combat, firefighting, marriage, divorce and parenting. I ended up with a bad back, a broken heart, a cast iron stomach and a tin ear — but a great nose for bullshit.
I’ve written because I had to — Road Work was something I needed to write for my own soul. I’ve written for love — no, I haven’t published that one. I’ve written for a paycheck. These days I earn my living writing, but I don’t write for a paycheck anymore.
I hope you’ll find something here that matters to you, whether it’s a musing for Motorcyclist or a short story for which I’ve found a venue.
